Vive España (Part 1)

I was incredibly pleased by Spain's Euro win last night.

I had declared my intention to support Spain before the tournament even began, but I didn't really expect them to win it. I'd picked them mainly because they are usually under-achievers. The OH at the same time had backed Germany, quoting one of his father's favourite mottos of "Never bet against the Germans".

So we had "our" final. And "my" team won!

I must say I've enjoyed this tournament more than any since Euro 96. It was better without England and I think I might stick with Spain from now on.

The OH and I were saying last night how much we've enjoyed watching the football too - I think its being able to watch a tournament without the whole England will they won't they crap pressure

I supported Spain too - not sure if it was the lure of watching the delightful Fernando Torres trot about or the fact I got Spain in the office sweepstake and won £32, which I plan to spend on shoes!

Blah! Did you not watch Neil on at the teatime slot at Glastonbury? Hindsight is a glorious thing, but how I wish...

At HIS age the man still has it in him to captivate 100,000+ mudskippers...respect...

NM - he is rather nice - in fact the whole team is quite cute on account of them being young and small. It was especially apparent against Italy. Well done on your win!

Cogi - I didn't watch at the time as I was at the spa, but I did watch it last night on repeat on our cable thing. He was marvellous again. I almost wish I'd gone.

I was supporting Sweden (naturally) and the Dutch, but both faltered. I was glad to see the Spanish winning, makes a change from the Germans and the Italians having everything to themselves...
